【摘要】:By-productabrasivesmanufacturedfromslagsthatareaircooledorquenchedwithpurewater,normallycontainlowconcentrationsofionicmaterials,asdominedmineralabrasives.However,slagsquenchedwithseawaterorothercontaminatedwater,containhighamountsofionicmaterialasdoesseashoresand.Thiscontaminationoftheabrasivecantransfertothesteelsurfacesbeingblasted,whereitmayacceleratecorrosion.Thistestisusefulinestablishingthecleanlinessoftheabrasiveatthejobsite.Thistestmethodprovidesavaluethatindicatestheconcentrationoftotalwatersolubleionsbasedontheirelectrolyticmobility.Thus,itprovidesanindicationofioniccorrosionpotential.Note18212;Atypicalvalueofconductivityforahighlevelofcontaminationis500x03BC;mho/cm.Atypicalvalueforalowlevelofcontaminationis50x03BC;mho/cm.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesaprocedureforrapidevaluationofabrasivesforthepresenceofioniccontaminationbydeterminingthetotalconcentrationofwatersolubleioniccontaminantsbymeansofaconductivitytest.1.2Thistestmethoddoesnotidentifytheionicspeciespresentnorprovidequantitativeresultsoneachspecies.1.3Thistestmethodisbasedonavolumecomparisonamongabrasivesofsimilarsizes.Avolumecomparisonismorecloselyrelatedtosurfaceareaoftheabrasivesthanisaweightcomparison.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
